Mini Cooper Convertible Stardust edition launched: What’s special
Mini India has launched the new Mini Cooper Convertible Stardust edition in the Indian market. The car will be brought to India via the CBU route and is priced at Rs 62.90 lakh (ex-showroom). For reference, the standard Mini Cooper Convertible is priced at Rs 59 lakh, which makes the special edition Rs 3.9 lakh more expensive. Interested customers can book the car online or by visiting their nearest dealership, deliveries have already commenced.
There are no mechanical changes to the car; the Convertible continues to be powered by the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 204hp and 300Nm, and comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. However, the company claims fuel efficiency of 16.82kpl for the Stardust Edition, which is marginally higher than the Cooper Convertible’s 16.39kpl figure. It can sprint from 0-100kph in a claimed 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 240kph. The Stardust Edition gets a Sparkling Copper Grey exterior with Vibrant Silver-finished ORVM caps and 18-inch John Cooper Works Rallye Spoke alloy wheels. It also features a Union Jack-themed fabric soft top. The electrically operated roof opens in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30kph and closes in 15 seconds. Boot space stands at 160 litres with the roof down and increases to 215 litres when it is closed. The cabin remains unchanged from the standard Cooper Convertible. It comes equipped with a 9.4-inch circular OLED touchscreen running Mini Operating System 9, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon sound system, a head-up display, a wireless phone charger, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, a heated steering wheel and other convenience features. Safety equipment includes Level 1 ADAS, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control, three-point seat belts for all four occupants and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
